I’m standing in the white marble lobby of the new Mayfair Townhouse hotel with Federico Ciampi, its general manager, who is gesturing to a life-size peacock glittering with a constellation of 25,000 Swarovski crystals. Christening the sculpture, the work of Colombian artist Clarita Brinkerhoff, won’t be easy. It needs a bold name; something avant-garde yet elegant. Mayfair is, after all, prime dandy territory.
